Project Engineer

McKenney's Inc. is seeking Project Engineers to join our team in Atlanta, GA. This exciting role is a 9-12-month entry level position designed to expose the employee to McKenney’s: our people, processes, capabilities and scope of work before moving into a role as an Assistant Project Manager, Engineer, or Sales Engineer. As a Project Engineer, you will work in a team environment in which you will participate in, and understand, McKenney’s preconstruction processes, design and virtual construction, fabrication work flows, field installation of mechanical systems, and start up and commissioning of those systems. Learning objectives in this role include, but are not limited to, the detailing of mechanical systems (ductwork, mechanical piping, and plumbing), coordinating McKenney’s work with customers and other trades thru the BIM process, estimating projects, interacting with our suppliers, vendors and subcontractors, and working in the field as part of an installation crew. Along with this training the Project Engineer will also be expected to develop good relationships through regular interactions with project managers, field and shop foremen, VC team members, field operations, engineers, suppliers, and other trade subcontractors. 

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, engineering technology or building construction
  • Must have basic PC experience in Windows environments, working knowledge of word processing, spreadsheets, e-mail, Web-enabled applications, and database software

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience in the construction industry
  • Two years of experience managing mechanical work
  • Strong Business Acumen (entrepreneurship counts)
  • Knowledge of Account Management (managing multiple customers)
  • Leadership exposure (conferences, training, etc.)

  • Strong leadership skills, self-motivated, team-oriented and able to respond quickly to changing customer demands
  • Ability to use time productively, maximize efficiency, and meet challenging work goals
  • Must be a self-starter with ability to work well independently and as part of a team
  • Maintain a strong attention to detail and ability to successfully prioritize company drafting needs to maximize company profitability
  • Team-oriented and able to respond quickly to changing customer demands.
  • Ability to effectively communicate across a diverse group of people (PMs, drafting, field staff, fabrication shops, etc.).
  • Solid reasoning, math, science, and technical skills.
  • Ability to use time productively, maximize efficiency, and meet challenging work goals
  • Ability to take on additional responsibilities as needed as well as determine and manage priorities with minimal guidance.
  • Must possess and maintain an exceptional work ethic and high level of project ownership as well as uphold company values and demand the highest standard of conduct from self and others.
  • Must be persistent and able to attain results under adverse circumstances and conflict
