Assistant Middle School Principal/MTSS Coordinator

JOB BRIEF: 

  • To assist and support in the daily operation of the school which will include supervision and organization of MTSS protocols or working with BSEL student support.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Three (3) years teaching experience.
  • Building Leadership License required.
  • Experience with implementing RTI/MTSS models.
  • Experience in providing behavioral/social/emotional support.
  • All USD 383 employees must pass a background check.

ADMINISTRATION/ASSISTANT PRINCIPAL PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Supervision and coordination of bus students and associated transportation concerns.
  • Oversees the selection of the lunchroom aides.  Supervises and evaluates their performance.
  • Supervises/coordinates times during breakfast and lunch.
  • Attends and participates in staff and other school activities and meetings as appropriate.
  • Coordinates with principal and other instructional leaders to support teachers' instruction through modeling, observing, providing feedback, and supporting teacher reflection
  • Supervision with Faculty/Staff - Assists in hiring/orientation; evaluating; working through concerns and classroom management; co-planning and directing meetings, staff development, trainings, and in-services; communication: listening, feedback, and encouragement for all staff.
  • Works with teachers and instructional staff in establishing positive classroom learning environments.
  • Coordinates all district standardized assessments.
  • Communicates with parents and families to share progress, as well as behavior and academic concerns.
  • Supervises grade-level teams, including meetings, IEP’s, etc.
  • Assists and coordinates other tasks and duties per the direction of the building principal.
  • Duties may change at the discretion of the building principal.

 MTSS PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Help lead staff development initiatives.
  • Help design and monitor building MTSS plans.
  • Oversees the selection of math and reading interventionists. Supervises and evaluates their performance.
  • Guide the development and implementation of MTSS models and frameworks.
  • Identify clear processes for universal screening, which will be used to identify students who need additional support.
  • Establish a progress monitoring process and data collection procedures.
  • Meet with Collaborative Teams to provide support for intervention implementation.
  • Ensure the development, identification, and establishment of interventions at Tier II and III.
  • Assist in analyzing student needs and linking student needs to appropriate interventions for struggling students.
  • Identify expectations for the use of MTSS for both academic and behavioral concerns.
  • Experience: Job-related experience is required. Experience working within a school setting as a classroom teacher, counselor, social worker, administrator, school psychologist, or other professionally licensed in a relatable field.

 

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT/SALARY:    

  • Full time school year position – 210-day contract.

REPORTS TO: Building Principal.

  • USD 383 makes monthly contributions to a 403(b)-retirement account for all certified and eligible employees.
  • KPERS (Kansas Public Employees Retirement System): 6% monthly staff contribution. Vested after five years.

TECHNOLOGY: District provided devices - iPad, laptop and/or desktop for certified staff.
