Choir Director
The position of a Choir Director will be available at East Central ISD for the 2024-2025 school year.  All individuals (district employees included) who are interested in this position must apply online through Frontline via the district website. The deadline for submitting an application is 4:00 pm., March 30, 2024, or until the position is filled. 

POSITION FUNCTION/PURPOSE:  Provide students with appropriate learning activities and experiences in the core academic subject area assigned to help them fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth.  Enable students to develop competencies and skills to function successfully in society.  

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  1. Direct and supervise the middle school vocal music program.
  2. Participate in approved performances.
  3. Provides instruction in the choir program.
  4. Plan and develop a vocal music curriculum that encourages students to express them through music, involves Music history, theory, and form, and increases the vocal ability of your students.
  5. Assume direct responsibility for inventory and issuance of music and equipment in the middle school vocal music program.
  6. Supervise and coordinate all trips involved in the middle school choir programs.
  7. Supervise and coordinate all fundraising activities in the middle school choir programs.
  8. Organize musical programs exhibiting the development and musical growth of the students.
  9. Coordinates the instructional process for choir students in concerts, choir, and music appreciation classes.
  10. Maintains accurate choir inventory, budget, maintenance, and general operation of all activities.
  11. Supports all district policies regarding the welfare and education of students.
  12. Actively coordinates campus choir activities with campus programs, staff, and community.
  13. Actively prepares students for quality participation in UIL/TMEA sponsored events and district choral functions.
  14. Actively participates in the professional development of personal teaching competencies.
  15. Actively participates in professional organizations that foster and support music education.
  16. Perform other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: 

Education/Certificates:
Bachelor’s degree 
Appropriate Texas Teacher’s Certificate Music EC - 12  


EQUIPMENT USED:  Personal computer and peripherals; standard instructional equipment; [Physical Education Teachers: Current automated external defibrillator (AED) certificate].                   

WORKING CONDITIONS:  Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors:  Maintain emotional control under stress; work prolonged or irregular hours; frequent district and statewide travel.  Ability to communicate effectively (verbal & written), concentrate, interpret policies and procedures, reason, read, understand verbal instructions, analyze, differentiate, coordinate, compile, instruct, and maintain emotional control.  Ability to lift and/ or carry moderate weight (15-44 pounds), sit, stand walk, climb stairs or ladder, reach, repetitive hand motions, hear, speak, some travel within the District and outside the district/county, may experience prolonged and irregular work hours, and work with frequent interruptions.  May be required to lift and position students with physical disabilities; control behavior through physical restraint, and assist non-ambulatory students.  Exposure to biological hazards.

SALARY:  Based on the 2024-2025 Classroom Teacher Salary Scale
