Principal

 

The position of a Principal is available immedaitely at East Central ISD for the 2023-2024 school year. All individuals (district employees included) who are interested in this position must apply online through Frontline via the district website. The deadline for submitting an application is 4:00 pm., April 06, 2024, or until the position is filled.  

PRIMARY PURPOSE:  Direct and manage overall campus operations. Responsible for leadership of the campus instructional program ensuring high standards of instruction and student achievement, compliance with district policies, application of instructional programs, and effective operation of all campus activities.  

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: 

 

  1. Monitor instructional processes to ensure that program activities are related to program goals and use findings to take corrective actions where necessary.
  2. Responsible and accountable for ensuring the fidelity of district curriculum programs and initiatives.
  3. Communicate and promote expectations to staff and students for high-level performance.
  4. Ensure the effective and quick resolution of conflicts.
  5. Provide instructional resources and materials to support staff in accomplishing instructional goals.
  6. Foster collegiality and team building among staff members and encourage their active participation in decision-making and in planning professional development activities.
  7. Build a common vision for school improvement and ensure attainment of the school's mission.
  8. Develop and set annual campus performance objectives, utilizing a campus planning process and the site-based decision-making committee.
  9. Interview, select, and orient new staff.
  10. Define expectations for staff performance with regard to instructional strategies, classroom management, and communication with the public.
  11. Observe employee performance, record observations, and conduct evaluation conferences with staff.
  12. Make recommendations to the Superintendent on termination, suspension, or nonrenewal of employees assigned to campus.
  13. Develop campus budgets based on documented program needs, estimated enrollment, personnel and other fiscal needs.  Keep programs within budget limits. Maintain fiscal control and accurately report fiscal information.
  14. Maintain all reports, records, and other documents required by district policy or by law.
  15. Manage use of school facilities and supervise maintenance of these facilities to ensure a safe, clean, and orderly campus.
  16. Work with staff and students to develop a student discipline management system that results in positive student behavior and enhances the school climate.
  17. Ensure that school rules are uniformly observed and that student discipline is appropriate and equitable in accordance with the Student Code of Conduct and the student handbook.
  18. Conduct conferences about school issues with parents, students, and staff.
  19. Demonstrate professional, ethical, and responsible behavior; serve as a role model for all campus staff.
  20. Demonstrate awareness of school and community needs and initiate activities to meet those needs; articulate the school’s mission to the community and solicit its support in realizing the mission; encourage community and parental involvement.
  21. Provide leadership in personal professional growth and in support of the professional growth of others.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

 

Education/Certification:
Master’s Degree in educational administration
Texas Principal or Mid-Management Certificate
Administrative experience at the campus level (Elementary experience preferred)
Advanced Education Leadership (AEL) certification, Instructional Leadership Training (ILT), or Instructional Leadership Development (ILD)
Special Knowledge/Skills:
Working knowledge of curriculum and instruction
Ability to evaluate instructional program and teaching effectiveness
Ability to manage budget and personnel
Ability to implement policy and procedures
Ability to interpret data
Excellent organizational, communication, public relations, and interpersonal skills
Experience:
Two years experience as a classroom teacher
Three years experience in instructional leadership roles  

 

EQUIPMENT USED: Standard office equipment including personal computer and peripherals  

WORKING CONDITIONS:  Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors: Work with frequent interruptions; maintain emotional control under stress.  Frequent sitting and standing; occasional bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, and twisting.  Repetitive hand motions; frequent keyboarding and use of mouse; occasional reaching.  Occasional light lifting and carrying (less than 15 pounds); occasional physical restraint of students to control behavior.  May work prolonged or irregular hours; work inside and outside (exposure to sun, heat, cold, and inclement weather), exposure to noise; occasional district-wide and statewide travel. Normal office/school environment and outside building exposure.  
    
PERIOD OF EMPLOYMENT:  220 days-basis                
SALARY:  Administrative Pay Grade 107
