Summary:
Provide product design/development and engineering support to specific product projects through design (creating 3D modeling and 2D drawings) and technical support in accordance with customer and agency requirements.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Support Senior Engineers with technical design (component specification and selection), development (prototyping and testing), and certification (agency and regulatory requirements) of refrigeration and fluid systems equipment.
- Support sustaining product design with changes and/or improvements including development and execution of reliability test plans.
- Generate models and detailed drawings using SolidWorks.
- Develop prototype parts.
- Perform and coordinate product testing with direction from Senior Engineers.
- Participate with investigations and assist in resolving field problems related to specific products.
- Evaluate and create production deviations, engineering models and drawings, Engineering Change Notices (ECN), and Bills of Materials.
- Follow and maintain method and procedures for transfer of design packages including part and assembly drawings, BOMs, and other documentation required.
- Review and monitor part revision and history using Workgroup PDM.
- Support Senior Engineers with developing new machine configurations to meet specific customer needs and expand product lines.
- Communicate with vendors on requirements and materials needed for project completion.
- Provide technical support for product line to manufacturing departments.
- Participate in cross-functional teams in new product commercialization.
- Participate in project reviews and meetings.
- Perform other duties as needed and assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Must have a Bachelors’ Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
- Must have 0-2 years of experience as a Mechanical Engineer.
- Must have technical curriculum or knowledge of thermodynamics, fluid flow, materials science, and/or electro-mechanics.
- Must have basic knowledge of SolidWorks. Must be familiar in the use of parametric solid modeling software such as SolidWorks, Inventor, Mechanical Desktop, Pro-E, or Unigraphics.
- Must have basic knowledge in the use of industry best practices for engineering design (FMEA, DFMA, etc).
- Must have basic statistical knowledge.
- Must be proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point and Outlook.
- Must have strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Must possess a valid state driver’s license.
Physical Demands:
- Required to talk, hear, type, and have eye/hand/foot coordination, sit, walk, stand, reach, grasp, lift, push, pull, carry, and effectively communicate.
- Ability to lift a minimum of 20 pounds.
- This position works in a typical office, manufacturing, and lab environment.
- Clarity of vision including the ability to appropriately differentiate colors.
- Ability to hear, understand, and distinguish speech and other sounds.
