Job Summary
 

The job performs routine assignments related to scientific research projects. Ensures compliance of research activities with institutional, state, and federal regulatory policies, procedures, directives and mandates. Analyzes possible solutions using standard procedures. Writes articles, reports and manuscripts. Assists in drafting presentations on research findings.

The Department of Radiology is looking for a Research Analyst to join its radiopharmaceutical research and development team. The job performs routine assignments related to scientific research projects and ensures compliance of research activities with applicable policies, procedures, and guidelines. Analyzes possible solutions using standard procedures. Writes reports and assists in drafting presentations on research findings and manuscripts. Specifically, the individual will contribute to various research projects involving molecular imaging and radiolabeled probe development and work with cancer cell lines and small animals to support different research programs. The candidate is expected to work individually and as part of a multi-disciplinary team within the Department and with external collaborators. The initial appointment will be for two years, with the potential for renewal based on funding availability and satisfactory job performance.

 

Responsibilities

Participate in the design and execution of various wet lab experiments and research protocols.

Practice Good Laboratory Practice principles and maintain clear laboratory records.

Willing to work with chemical reagents, radioactivity, cancer cell lines, and small animals such as mice and rats.

Maintain tumor cell lines and conduct cell- and animal experiments with radiolabeled molecules.

Willing to learn and use various molecular biology assays (e.g., qPCR), immunoblotting and immunohistochemistry.

Assist with generating different animal models and maintaining animal research records for various projects.

Contribute to data analysis and interpretation.

Active participation in research group meetings and training students.

Maintains technical and administrative support for a research project.

Analyzes and maintains data and/or specimens. Conducts literature reviews. Assists with preparation of reports, manuscripts and other documents.

Installs, sets up and performs experiments; interacting with students and other laboratory staff under the direction of the principal investigator.

Maintains recruiting and scheduling research subjects; assisting with developing or amending study protocols; assisting with developing data collection tools; assisting with building databases; and providing general administrative support. Has general awareness in research techniques or methods, regulatory policies and procedures, and relevant scientific field.

Performs other related work as needed.


Minimum Qualifications
 

Education:

Minimum requirements include a college or university degree in related field.

Preferred Qualifications

 

Education:

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in biology or a related field.

College courses in biology, cell biology, or cancer biology.

 

Preferred Competencies

Ability to use computer and data analysis programs.

Knowledge in biostatistics.

Strong organizational and communicational skills.

Coordinate various lab activities and show strong interest and commitment to the goals of the research lab.

Adaptability to challenging work environments (e.g., working with fast-decaying radioactive elements).

 

Working Conditions

Wet lab environment.

Ability to stand for extended periods for experiments.

Ability to carry moderate weights (e.g., small lead containers for handling radioactivity).
