Job Description
Quantum Physicist
SUMMARY DESCRIPTION: Experience with hands on research related to development of quantum memories, networks and atom-based sensors. Position requires design and development of laboratory demonstration experiments. Develop data collection components for experiments along with post data analysis.
QUALIFICATIONS: MS/Ph.D. in Physics or equivalent and 5+ years of experience. Knowledge in several of these key areas is preferred:
·      Provides client with expertise in experimental atomic and optical physics for the development of atom-based sensors, clocks, quantum memories, and quantum networking technologies.
·      Uses knowledge of atomic and optical physics to perform design, analysis, and theoretical modeling of technologies and experiments based on atom-light interactions.
·      Works with client to build laboratory experiment and demonstration apparatus, including laser system alignment, ultra-high-vacuum system build, magnetic field control, and atomic state detection.
·      Develops, improves, and operates experimental control and data acquisition systems.
·      Optimizes laboratory experiment and demonstration performance, including signal-to-noise ratio, repetition rate, and stability.
·      Uses software data analysis and plotting tools to analyze and present experimental data.
·      Conducts background scientific literature research to provide analytical support and recommendations to improve experimental design and procedures.
·      Participates as a consultant, advisor, or member in various planning and working groups
Position supports a US Government contract. U. S. citizenship required and ability to obtain a DOD Secret Clearance. Existing DOD Secret Clearance preferred.
