POSITION: Instruction & Curriculum Lead for Adult Education & Literacy – Full-Time – Lufkin 

                     This position is grant funded.

QUALIFICATIONS:

 

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Three years teaching experience; Curriculum development.
  • Computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (including Word and Excel) and web browsers.

 

Preferred:

  • Master’s degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Texas Teacher Certification
  • Bilingual (Spanish).

JOB DESCRIPTION:

The position will report to the Director of Adult Education & Literacy for job responsibilities and other College related activities as outlined in the Policies and Procedures Manual. Essential duties include but are not limited to the following:

 

  • In keeping with college and grant requirements, design, implement, support, evaluate, and continually improve the instruction and curriculum for adult education classes;
  • Stay informed on grant requirements in the area of responsibility and make recommendations to address any changes or additions to the program;
  • Serves as Instruction and Curriculum Lead for the AEL contract and assists in the development, delivery, documentation, and maintenance of adult education classes;
  • Serves as an instructional coach and oversees instruction of adults in the following areas: English as a Second Language (ESL), High School Equivalency (HSE/GED), Distance Learning, Workforce Skills Development, Transition to employment and/or Post-Secondary Education;
  • Conducts classroom observations and makes recommendations for professional development activities;
  • Conducts frequent teacher meetings and/or onboarding to ensure curriculum alignment and clear objectives across classes;
  • Acts as a mentor teacher for part-time instructional staff and ensures appropriate resources are available for effective instruction;
  • Ensures implementation of holistic, learner-participatory instruction that addresses learners’ needs, abilities, and learning styles;
  • Submits required reports that are accurate and turned in by dates as set by college policy/procedures;
  • Assists with class scheduling and securing appropriate instructors;
  • Serves on hiring committees for adult education part-time instructors;
  • Maintains communication with the Director to request materials, ensure accurate record keeping, and fulfill professional development requirements;
  • Supports and coordinates with all adult education staff.

 

CONTRACT & SALARY:

$50,000.00 per year, in addition to excellent employee benefits. Proof of identity and eligibility to work in the United States must be verified for the successful candidate.
