Summary
Responsible for the accounting and financial reporting functions under general direction. Supervises and manages assigned area of the department.
Qualifications
NECESSARY KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
• Strong knowledge in the application of governmental Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and Government Accounting Standards Board (GASB) pronouncements in financial/accounting transactions.
• Strong knowledge of accounting theory, principles and practices, and their application to a wide variety of accounting transactions and problems in municipal government accounting functions.
• Knowledge of pertinent federal, state, and local laws and regulations related to municipal government finance.
• Skilled in compiling and preparing financial reports
• Ability to implement and administer financial accounting systems.
• Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
• Ability to organize assignments and work independently.
• Proven skills in use of a personal computer and on-line systems.
• Knowledge of principles and practice of supervision and personnel management.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Required:
• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance or related field
• At least four (4) years of government accounting experience.
• Two years of supervisory experience (preferred)
• Advanced knowledge in Excel, Word and Power Point
