Community Overdose Prevention Specialist

Flexible schedule: 900 hours must be completed within one full year of service starting in Sept ’24 or later. (Ex/ September 2024 – August 2025, 900 hours, 20 hours/week)

The Public Health AmeriCorps Community Overdose Prevention Specialist works on special projects that involve overdose reversal training and Narcan distribution in the community and at the Truth Pharm office. The member will also be responsible for attending tabling events, providing walk-in service response to community members, promoting social media campaigns related to overdose prevention, and overseeing volunteer management. Please note: AmeriCorps positions are unlike traditional jobs or internships. An AmeriCorps position runs for a set amount of time for a set number of hours (900). Throughout the course of their term, the member receives a living allowance of $11,375, broken into bi-weekly payments. At the end of the member’s term, they receive an education award of $3,697.50 to put towards education expenses (tuition, student loans, etc).

Requirements

  • US Citizenship or Permanent Residency
  • A high school diploma or GED
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Personal vehicle (mileage will be compensated) 
  • In-person service in Binghamton, NY
