Building Operations Supervisor

  JOB GOAL:  To supervise the maintenance and grounds staff that will provide preventive maintenance, repair, and replacement of equipment in all District Buildings.

TERM OF EMPLOYMENT: 12 months
COMPENSATION: $60,671 - $83,046
BENEFITS: As per District policy
REPORTS TO:  Executive Director of Operations and Construction 
EVALUATION: Per District Policy
HOURS:  40 hours per week and may require longer hours
CLASSIFICATION: Exempt
 
 QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Valid Arizona driver’s license
  • Experience with computers, such as email and work order systems
  • Experience in purchase and use of all general building materials
  • Minimum of six years full time commercial building maintenance/repair work preferred
  • Minimum of two years of experience in supervision of staff preferred
  • Minimum of journeyman level plumber, or electrician with at least 2 years of supervisory experience preferred
  • IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card required
  • Required to pass a criminal history background check


PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
Responsibilities shall include, but not be limited to, the following:

  1. Supports the Strategic Plan of Queen Creek Unified School District
  2. Works closely with Facilities Supervisor, HVAC Supervisor and the Executive Director of Operations and Construction to ensure all departmental goals are met
  3. Supervises the building maintenance, grounds personnel, and building safety personnel
  4. Examines school buildings on a regular basis for needed repairs and maintenance
  5. Ensures excellent condition of outdoor athletic playing surfaces and all district grounds
  6. Establishes and recommends priorities on repair projects
  7. Recruits, interviews, and recommends for hire maintenance personnel for whom supervision is provided.
  8. Oversees the essential operations task of exemplary maintained front entrance areas to facilities and athletic facilities
  9. Coordinates safety training and conducts regular staff meetings
  10. In conjunction with the Facilities Supervisor and HVAC Supervisor, oversees the District’s On-Call program
  11. Assists in estimating the cost of repair projects in terms of labor, materials, and overhead
  12. Assigns and supervises preventive maintenance work
  13. Assists in requisition of all tools, parts, and supplies
  14. Supervises the retention of all building construction, equipment, and systems, documents
  15. Maintains records of all equipment and facilities repairs for capital projects
  16. Participates in the development of an annual budget for the Building Operations and Construction Department
  17. Advises on the hiring of contractors to perform certain maintenance or repair services
  18. Assists in coordinating the maintenance staff for Facility Rental events
  19. Conducts annual evaluation of all maintenance, building safety employees, and grounds employees as assigned
  20. Responsible for written routine reports and correspondence
  21. Other duties as assigned, including but not limited to 24-hour on-call
