POSITION: Instructor, Fire Academy – Part-Time

QUALIFICATIONS:
Required:
 High school Diploma, Certified Texas Fire Fighter, Certified Instructor through TCFP or Subject Matter Expert in
field.
 Having worked in the Fire Fighting Field for at least three (3) years.
 Certified Fire Fighter.
 Instructor Credentials.
 TCFP Field Examiner.
Preferred:
 Hazardous-Material Certification.
 FEMA advanced training.
 Instructor II.

JOB DESCRIPTION:
The position will report to the Fire Academy Coordinator and Assistant Coordinator for job responsibilities and other
College related activities as outlined in the Policies and Procedures Manual. Essential duties include but are not limited to
the following:
 Demonstrate a sensitivity toward and respect for the myriad of diversities represented in the student population,
colleagues and service area;

 Aid in the development of curricula, including individual course syllabi as assigned;
 Prepare and deliver instruction to students;
 Actively pursue and participate in professional development activities to enhance skills in various modes of
instruction and knowledge of learning;
 Prepare assignments;
 Manage and safeguard Fire Academy equipment;
 Assist with assessing student learning outcomes and program learning outcomes and achieving institutional
performance measures;
 Accept and participate in the necessary training to offer courses via varied delivery methods such as distance learning;
 Perform basic student enrollment and recruitment functions, such as community outreach, support of student
registration and student retention activities;
 Attend the workplace regularly, report to work punctually and follow a work schedule to keep up with the demands of
the worksite;
 Incorporate innovation and embracement of new ideas in training; and
 Read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents.
CONTRACT & SALARY:
$23.00 per hour. Proof of identity and eligibility to work in the United States must be verified for the successful candidate.
