Student Nutrition Operator Floater Full Time

To assist Cafeteria Manager in supervising a cafeteria team engaged in the preparation and serving of meals while adhering to federal, state and local guidelines.


 

 


 

Essential Functions:


 

  • Assist cafeteria employees and manager as needed.
  • Assist with maintaining accurate inventory of all food and supplies.
  • Assist with food production ensuring proper quantities of food are prepared and served using standardized recipes. Ensure menus are followed.
  • Assist with production record documentation; Assist Manager with daily edit checks and daily deposits.
  • Assist with training of employees.
  • Follow safety practices at all times.
  • Comply with district, department and school policies.
  • Participate in department, cafeteria and school meetings as needed.
  • Understand meal pattern requirements and meal count procedures, as prescribed by the USDA for breakfast and lunch.
  • Understand food safety and sanitation and the proper use of chemicals in the kitchen.
  • Knowledgeable of HACCP principles.
  • Proficient with the operation and sanitation of kitchen equipment and report any and all maintenance issues to the manager.
  • Assist with daily work schedules for cafeteria team and assist with cleaning of the kitchen.
  • Handle customer issues in a positive manner.
  • Be a solid team player for the district.
  • Be able to act as the person in charge when manager is absent.
  • Complete other duties as assigned.

 


 

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Physical Demands Desired:


 

 


 

Knowledge: High School Diploma, GED or Vocational/Technical training, able to read and comprehend instructions and apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed written and oral instructions. Serve Safe and/or HACCP certified or become certified within a year. Working knowledge of basic school food service practices.


 

 


 

Skills: Excellent interpersonal skills, able to understand food service computer programs, experience in the preparation of a large volume of meals, proficient in kitchen operations, ability to lead others in a friendly manner.


 

 


 

Abilities: Able to work with limited amount of supervision. Able to organize time, establish work priorities, and handle multi tasks. Good oral and written skills. Professionally represent the Student Nutrition Department.


 

 


 

Physical Demands: Able to assist, move, push, pull, or lift up to 50 pounds on a regular basis. Be physically able to withstand prolonged periods of standing, bending, sitting, squatting, walking, reaching, and repetitive movements. Occasional travel may be involved.
