Job Summary

 

Manage the design and implementation of Information Security as it relates to systems availability, data, integrity and confidentiality. Monitors security measures for IT systems and verifies systems and personnel adhere to those established security standards and requirements. Plans, coordinates and implements organization's security practices through the development and implementation of policies, standards and procedures. Works with the Chief Information Security Officer to plan and educate users about IT Security. Continually enhance the risk posture of University by efficiently completing risk assessments, audits, managing incidents, and monitoring advancements in IT Security.

 

Responsibilities

 

• Collaborate with senior leadership in the development and implementation of ongoing university-wide security program which includes design, strategy, and training to ensure that faculty, staff and students understand and are made aware of their security responsibilities, USG and organizational policies, laws and regulations and how to properly use and protect entrusted resources

• Provide statistics and supporting information by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing data and trends relating to IT Security and make recommendations for enhancements and purchases where necessary.

• Perform routine vulnerability management services that include vulnerability identification, risk assessments, generating vulnerability remediation or mitigation requirements, and validation testing

• Stay up­ to­ date on latest security threats, countermeasures, industry trends, regulations and best practices

• Collaborates with IT teams to strengthen security design and strategy

 

Required Qualifications

 

Educational Requirements

 

• Bachelor's Degree or seven (7) years experience in similar technical position or a combination of five (5) years of experience and technical certifications

 

Required Experience

 

• Three (3) or more years of progressive experience in Enterprise computing and Information Security within a relevant security operations role

 

Preferred Qualifications

 

Additional Preferred Qualifications

 

• One (1) or more Global Information Assurance Certification (GIAC) certifications CISSP, CISA or other industry standard IT Security certifications in good standing (i.e.,: CompTIA Security+ Cert)

 

Proposed Salary

 

Commensurate with Experience

 

This is an exempt position paid on a monthly basis.

• Proven proficiency with computers including Microsoft Office, Google, and/or applications as required for specific position

 

KNOWLEDGE

 

• Adhere to University policies and procedures to meet Institutional goals and support University's mission for student success

• Working knowledge and experience with various regulatory requirements include PCI/DSS, HIPPA and FERPA

• Working knowledge and experience with standards and control frameworks including NIST and ITIL

• Extensive knowledge and experience in IT security architecture including cloud based services

• Working knowledge and experience with firewall and routing principles

• Working knowledge and experience with recent Server Operating systems including: Linux (Red Hat), Windows Server, and MAC OS

• Working knowledge and experience with network protocols and services including: TCP/IP, FTP, HTTP, SSH, SMB, LDAP, etc.

• Working knowledge and experience with encryption

• Working knowledge and experience with authentication technologies including Active Directory

• Effective communication (verbal and written), organizational and human relations skills
