The State Water Resources Control Board’s Office of Legislative Affairs has an opening for an Associate Governmental Program Analyst (Legislative Analyst). The position is located at 1001 I Street, in the heart of Downtown Sacramento, next to light rail stations and other public transportation.

Duties:

The Associate Government Program Analyst (AGPA) will assist in analyzing legislation and crafting public policy within the government affairs programs of the State Water Board.  This individual will work closely with the Legislative Director, Assistant Legislative Director, analysts at the Office of Legislative Affairs, and numerous SWRCB program staff to analyze State and Federal legislation affecting California’s drinking water, water quality, and water rights programs.  The AGPA will help monitor the progress of State and Federal legislation and will work to develop and recommend legislative positions.

Under the direction of the Staff Services Manager I, the AGPA will prepare analyses of legislation of interest to the State Water Resources Control Board and the Regional Water Quality Control Boards. The incumbent will also assist in the development of legislative proposals, respond to inquiries from members of the Legislature, draft correspondence related to official communications from legislators, and perform other duties as required.

Salary information – CalHR salary rules allow appointment at the entrance rate (Cal. Code Regs., tit. 2, § 599.673) of a classification. For classes with alternate ranges, placement is based on education/experience.
