Classroom Teacher
Provides students with appropriate learning activities and experiences in a creative manner that is designed to fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical and social growth. Promotes the mission and vision of the district.
Illustrative Duties:
- Plans a program of study that meets the individual needs, interests, and abilities of the students.
- Possesses a solid knowledge of lesson cycle(s).
- Employs strong classroom management skills and creates a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of the students.
- Prepares lessons that are data driven and reflect accommodations for individual differences.
- Prepares for classes assigned and shows written evidence of preparation upon request of immediate supervisor.
- Encourages students to maintain standards of classroom behavior.
- Guides the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum goals and goals of the school.
- Employs a variety of instructional techniques and instructional media consistent with the needs and capabilities of the individuals or student groups involved.
- Assesses the accomplishments of the students on a regular basis and provides progress reports as required.
- Refers students for evaluation by district specialists as required.
- Takes necessary andreasonable precautions to protect the students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
- Maintains accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, district policy, and administrative regulations.
- Assists the administration in implementing all policies and rules governing student conduct. Develops reasonable rules of classroom behavior. Maintains order in the classroom in a fair and just manner.
- Makes provisions for being available to the students and to the parents for education-related purposes.
- Maintains open lines of communication.
- Plans and supervises purposeful assignments for support staff and works with departmentheads.
- Maintains and improves professional competences.
- Develops and maintains technological skills to facilitate instruction.
- Participates in district staff development.
- Attends staff meetings and serves on staff committees.
- Maintains a professional relationship with colleagues.
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
Experience Requirements:
- One or more years teaching experience
- Strong knowledge of reading, writing, literacy development, and/or math
- Good communication skills in a professional manner both orally and in writing
- Ability to show empathy and effectively build relationships
- Demonstrated ability to function as a positive collaborative member of a team
Educational Requirements:
- Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university
- Master’s degree preferred
- Texas Teacher Certificate
Other Requirements:
- Maintains good attendance and is punctual and reliable.
- Ability to communicate effectively in both written and oral forms with all levels of management, both internal and external to the district.
