This job posting is for a Counselor at Mountain View Elementary School, home of the Blue Devils.

GOALS: 
To provide leadership to school staff in various curriculum areas and assist staff in providing a comprehensive program to address the needs of each student to the maximum extent possible.  Support the building principal in driving initiatives to increase teacher effectiveness, student achievement, school culture, and community involvement.

 

QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • Valid Georgia Professional Certification at Level 5 or higher in a teaching or service field and in Educational Leadership is preferred.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of successful school experience as a teacher and/or in an instruction leadership role preferred.
  • Ability to relate well to parents, teachers, students, peers, and other staff

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
 

  • Demonstrate belief that all students have the ability to achieve success.
  • Demonstrate resilience and focus on student outcomes.
  • Demonstrate understanding  of instructional design and effective teaching strategies to drive student achievement (with regards to GSE, GMA’s and Pacing Guides)
  • Demonstrate understanding of Differentiation (for remediation and acceleration)
  • Demonstrate ability to translate student mastery requirements into instructional plans and strategies
  • Ability to extract meaningful insights from data (individual students, teachers, grade-levels, content areas)
  • Demonstrated ability to facilitate and ensure positive outcomes of teacher, teams/departments  and/or professional learning communities
  • Ability to promote a positive school culture
  • Ability to support principal on hiring diverse, highly-effective teachers and school staff
  • Ability to support teachers by providing constructive feedback and/or professional learning opportunities to meet their needs.
  • Maintain composure under stressful conditions.
  • Develop and maintain effective working relationships.  
  • Perform duties with awareness of all district requirements and Board of Education policies.
