Engineering Technician

We are seeking a detail-oriented and hands-on Engineering Technician to support the design, assembly, testing, and troubleshooting of advanced custom thermal products. In this role, you will work closely with the Engineering team to contribute to innovative solutions that meet the highest standards of quality and performance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Build and install test fixtures, instrumentation, and controls to conduct functional tests with precision and efficiency.
  • Process components through various stages, including fluid handling, testing, final assembly, and shipping.
  • Operate testing equipment such as data acquisition systems, multimeters, power supplies, and chillers.
  • Communicate progress and technical challenges effectively with engineers and managers.
  • Assist in planning and executing tasks related to the fabrication, installation, testing, and servicing of heat transfer assemblies and systems.
  • Maintain a high-quality laboratory environment by adhering to and implementing best practices for equipment use and maintenance.
  • Create and maintain documented procedures to ensure process consistency and traceability.
  • Conduct quality assurance on in-process and final hardware to meet specifications and production schedules.
  • Promote and practice workplace safety and good housekeeping standards.
  • Participate in inspections, audits, and resolution of non-conformities.
  • Source and procure supplies, including obtaining quotations, preparing requisitions, and coordinating with vendors.
  • Perform basic electrical wiring, instrumentation, and control system tasks.
  • Fabricate nonstandard parts using hand tools, power tools, and manual machining equipment (e.g., lathe, vertical mill, drill press, band saw).
  • Support additional duties as assigned.

Special Job Requirements:

  • Work with and handle hazardous chemicals safely.
  • Exposure to fluid handling, including cryogenic and hazardous fluids.
  • Troubleshoot and develop first-generation solutions in a practical, hands-on environment.
  • Operate and maintain vacuum systems and general metal fabrication equipment.

Qualifications:

  • Certificate or degree from a technical school in a related field.
  • Familiarity with AS9100, ISO 9001:2008, or similar quality management standards.
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and schematics.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word and Excel.
  • Physical ability to handle materials weighing over 50 lbs as needed.
  • Experience in:
    • Basic electrical circuit theory and wiring.
    • Structural soldering (beyond wire or chip soldering).
    • Laboratory testing in controlled environments.
    • Metal fabrication with hand and manual tools.
