Modeling and Tooling Technician
• Utilizes 2D and 3D computer aided design and manufacturing software (CAD/CAM) to generate CNC programs and performs complex setups on multiple machine types to ensure that completed parts conform to print and process specifications.
• Accurately inspect finished parts using microscopes, tool maker's scope, micrometers, CMM, OGP, gage pins, thread gages, indicators, calipers, or other equipment.
• Assigned work area, tools and gauges will be clean, and kept neat, safe, and orderly at all times.
• Provides input to Engineering departments regarding feasibility and capability to produce new products.
• Plan, fabricate, and construct dies, tools, and fixtures to meet quality, safety, cost, and production requirements.
• Performs routine maintenance.
• Participate in the development of new processes and assists in the evaluation new equipment and tooling.
• Trains personnel in proper setup procedures, including using the correct tooling, correct methods for machines adjustment, measuring devices/techniques, process control methods, etc.
• Maintain a positive work atmosphere by communicating in a manner that interfaces well with customers, co-workers, and management members.
• Continually monitor manufacturing methods, processes, and procedures to ensure departmental goals are met while maintaining or improving cost competitiveness, which includes identifying, recommending, and implementing necessary improvements.
• Follow and continually monitor established safety procedures to assure a clean and safe work environment is promoted and maintained.
