Director of Peer Support Specialist

                                                                    Program Director 

                                                                       Peer Support

The Program Director is responsible for the general operation of the PSS program including, but not limited to, administration of the program and supervision ofall staff: Qualified Professionals, Associate Professionals, and Paraprofessionals at all sites. The Program Director ensures engagement of individuals with severe and persistent mental illness in the daily work of the units and oversees the completion of all of the tasks and responsibilities associated with the program. The Program Directoris responsible to the Clinical Director.

Specific Duties:

  1. Oversee the day-to-day operations of the program at all sites.
  2. Implement the agency's administrative and Program Policies and Procedures.
  3. Recruit participants for the club house to ensure the program operates at capacity.
  4. Design units appropriate to the goals, developmental needs, and interests of members.
  5. Supervise and engage staff in providing recovery- based services to adults with mental illness in obtaining vocational, educational, and other personal goals while conveying a sense of urgency to maintain all of the tasks and responsibilities within the units.
  6. Ensure that the Person-Centered Plan (PCP) is appropriately developed, implemented and monitored as it relates to the needs of the member.
  7. Monitor all authorizations and communication with LME and Medicaid regarding member authorizations, as well as grant/contract compliance and compliance with accreditation standards.
  8. Schedule training for employees to ensure compliance with DHHS training standards.
  9. Coordinate new admissions and transfers (e.g.) screening applicants and facilitating placement, etc.
  10. Monitor overall team efficiency and effectiveness, as well as program performance; working closely with Administrative Officer to implement and maintain continuous performance improvement including the Quality Improvement/Quality Assurance Plan.
  11. Conduct staff meetings to glean ideas, problem-solve, and communicate effectively about issues that affect staff and members.
  12. Assist Clinical Director in evaluating agency outcomes as it relates to promoting recovery, symptom stability, increased coping skills and achievement of the highest level of functioning in the community for members.
  13. Communicate directly with the Clinical Director on efforts to achieve current goals and the overall mission of the organization.
  14. Assist Clinical Director in preparing quarterly and annual reports as required by senior management.
  15. Ensure Health and Safety and Incident reporting requirements are upheld.
  16. Enforce all Southeastern safety standards and regulations.
  17. Actively work with the Clinical Director to increase public awareness, develop business relationships. 
  18. Responsible for updating own knowledge base, keeping up to date with current trends in mental health, Peer Support and Psychosocial Rehabilitation.
  19. Adhere to Professional Code of Ethics and complies with the State of North Carolina Division of Mental Health, Developmental Disabilities, and substance Abuse.
  20. Other duties as requested by senior Staff.

Educational Requirements:

Bachelor's Degree, (master's preferred) in a human services field with three years of post-graduate experience; or bachelor's degree in non-human services field with no less than seven years of full-time, post-bachelor's degree accumulated mh/dd/sa experience with the population served.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Excellent writing, public speaking and computer skills
  • Highly organized, self-motivated, and able to handle multiple tasks
  • No substantiated findings of abuse or neglect listed on the North Carolina Health Care Personnel Registry

Work Hours:

Monday- Friday 8:00am - 5:00pm
