Mechanical Design Engineer - Computer Aided (On Site)

POSITION OVERVIEW

This position is responsible for maintaining Gentex Computer Aided Engineering (CAE) systems. 

We are seeking candidates with extensive design experience with SolidWorks, SolidWorks EPDM, knowledge of Macros and scripting to automate tasks and improve efficiency. As well as the ability to train and mentor users on core SolidWorks application skills. In this role, candidates should have some experience in maintaining and implementing installations and upgrades for SolidWorks and PDM applications within the organization.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

  • Administration of CAE systems used in support of engineering and production (Catia, SolidWorks, Mentor Graphics, AutoCAD, CamWorks, MasterCAM, etc.).
  • Administration of Product Data Management (PDM) vault for various CAE systems.
  • Maintain CAE hardware/software budgets and implementation.
  • Support CAE tools user training.
  • Maintain and support all (customers/suppliers/Gentex subsidiaries) data transfers and historical data management records.
  • Support ongoing evaluation of CAE technology (hardware/software) in maintaining Gentex leadership role.
  • Support ongoing continuous improvement to forms and operating procedures.
  • Regular reporting on systems / project status to management.
  • Maintain detailed CAE systems documentation.
  • Active participation with CAE software user groups to maintain strong relationships.
  • Support daily requests from CAE user community relating to but not limited to CAD Quality, CAE Software Installation, Plotters, etc.
  • Represent Gentex in local User Groups.
  • Other duties as assigned.

WHAT TO BRING

  • B.S. in mechanical engineering, computer science, or equivalent level computer hardware/software work experience.
