English Assistant Professor (2 Positions)

The faculty member shall be responsible for the following: teaching assigned classes under the supervision of the area dean; helping students fulfill their maximum potential in mastering course content; assessing student learning outcomes; maintaining a thorough and up-to-date knowledge in their regular teaching field; continuing professional development; utilizing current technology in the performance of job duties; maintaining standards of professional conduct and ethics appropriate to the professional position; assisting with articulation and curriculum development and review; serving on college committees and participating in faculty governance including accreditation and student co-curricular activities; assuming other responsibilities as assigned by the area dean; fulfilling other duties and responsibilities of a full-time faculty member. 

The English Department’s offers a wide range of course offerings and campus resources to uphold our strong commitment to students and their success, while providing challenging coursework in composition, literature, critical thinking, and creative writing. Towards this commitment to success, the department also provides instructional support in the Reading and Writing Center, in computer-enriched classrooms, and through online modalities.

We have an exciting opportunity for two (2) English Instructor positions located at our campus. These positions are full-time tenure-track academic positions. The ideal candidates are student  oriented in their approach and dedicated to student success. They engage students in learning by affirming and developing their prior cultural knowledge and create welcoming learning environments that are equity-based. Full-time faculty are typically assigned 15 lecture hours (or the equivalent in laboratory, studio or related activities) of student contact time per week. Office hours are also required. Faculty are expected to participate in college service, committees, and/or a variety of task forces. Teaching assignments may include a mixture of day, evening, multi-campus, off-campus, and online classes.
 
 
Position Salary Information:
Initial maximum salary placement is based on academic degree, upper/graduate level units earned, and/or related professional occupational experience per the Los Rios College Federation of Teachers Contract (Download PDF reader) (the initial maximum placement is Class V, Step 8).
