Reports To: Clinic Manager
Status: Full or Part Time
Scheduled Time: 8:30-4:30 M-F, Requires some occasional evenings and weekends
While regular business hours are Monday through Friday, 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM, this position requires at least two evenings per week with a modified schedule extending to 6:00 PM to accommodate the needs of clients with school schedules.
ABOUT THE AGENCY Reach Counseling provides mental health care committed to the understanding of and response to emotional, sexual and physical abuse. Since 1976, Reach has worked to heal lives of abuse victims and hold perpetrators accountable through innovative programs in education and outreach, victim advocacy, outpatient therapy, counseling and sex offender treatment. POSITION SUMMARY The Child Therapist provides direct mental health therapy/treatment to child victims of sexual violence, physical violence and witnesses to domestic violence up to the age of 18 with a special focus on clients aged 5-12. The Child therapist also provides services to non-offending parents. Services may involve individual, group or family therapy.
We are flexible in hiring either a full-time or part-time therapist for this role. Applicants may include fully licensed therapists or resident therapists holding a training license. For part-time positions, hours will be limited to 29 hours per week (without benefits) or 30 hours per week (with benefits). Full-time positions consist of 40 hours per week and include a full benefits package. We encourage candidates at various stages of their professional journey to apply.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
LICENSED THERAPY
- Provide evaluations/problem identifications, diagnoses, crisis intervention and therapy to assigned clients (minimum 60% of time spent in contact with clients)
- Provide assessment, diagnosis, crisis intervention and therapy to assigned clients
- Develop treatment plans, monitor treatment progress and update client goals.
- Maintain accurate and timely client records, including admission summaries, progress notes, treatment plans and discharge summaries
- Client files are comprehensive and up to date quarterly.
- Submit a work plan of activities, goals and accomplishments to Clinic Manager on a quarterly basis.
- Coordinate with clients’ PCP, case managers, parents, school counselors, teachers or other collateral resources whenever possible
- Provide crisis counseling to clients and non-offending parents when needed
- Work with Victim Advocate to provide advocacy services involved with county workers, and/or the criminal justice system
- Attend and participate in monthly staff meetings, clinical collaboration meetings and 90 day case reviews
- Attend in-service trainings and workshops necessary to develop and maintain skills in counseling children
- Perform other duties as assigned

- Master’s degree in counseling, social work or related field and WI State Licensure (including LPC-IT or APSW)
- Knowledge of sexual abuse, domestic violence and trauma-informed care practices.
- Understanding of group dynamics.
- Experience with family systems work, including an ability to support parents/caregivers in developing more effective parenting skills
- Able to work with children and diverse populations.
- Able to assess crisis situations and intervene appropriately.
- Demonstrate a working knowledge of the DSM and diagnostic techniques.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Knowledge of basic computer skills and word processing.
