Swim Instructor
Students in our swimming program range from infants through adults, with goals from recreation to fitness to safety. If you are skilled in swimming and have a desire to share your knowledge, then this is the job for you. We offer flexible scheduling and free Y membership with employment.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
You will be assigned one or more swim classes to teach, from preschool through adult. You will teach in accordance with the YMCA Swim Lesson Program Curriculum. Critical to your success as an Instructor, and the Y’s continued reputation as a provider of highest quality swim instruction, is the relationship that you build with your students and their parents. This will be accomplished through positive and regular communication with students and parents relative to progress, concerns, questions and suggestions, while maintaining a safe and friendly aquatic learning environment.
PRIMARY QUALIFICATIONS:
Skills:
You must have knowledge of and ability to demonstrate and teach proper swim strokes and skills. Previous teaching experience not required. You must be able to effectively communicate to individuals and small groups in a noisy environment. You must possess the ability to recognize individual differences and adjust swim lessons accordingly.
Competencies:
Most important is the ability to build positive relationships and self-confidence as an Instructor. Other critical competencies include patience, problem solving creativity, motivational skills, and the ability to work independently. You must exhibit the Y core values of respect, responsibility, honesty and caring.
Certifications:
CPR/AED and First Aid certification is required within 60 days of hire. YMCA Swim Lesson Program certification preferred but not required. American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor certification preferred, but not required.
SCHEDULE
Variety of shifts available.
WAGE
$10.25/hour. Includes fully paid YMCA adult membership.
