Staging and Event Structures Technician

We are looking for a highly motivated Staging and Event Structures Technician to join our team on a full-time basis. This position is ideal for an individual interested in growing their career working in the special events industry. The Staging and Event Structures Technician will be responsible for warehouse prep/deprep, transporting, setting up, and operating various types of equipment during company events. Our company is interested in hiring an individual with previous experience in event staging, scaffold, truss, and some general Audio Visual equipment knowledge and with the ability to work independently and efficiently in a fast-paced environment.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Minimum 2 years staging and event structures experience
  • Lift a minimum of 75 pounds consistently
  • Ability to produce and maintain a clean and valid driver's license and meet company vehicle driving standards
  • Must be able to obtain a DOT medical card and a forklift operator certification
  • Class A Commercial Driver’s License would be a big plus
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English, verbally and in writing
  • Due to the nature of this position, you must be able to work nights and weekends on short notice.

Primary Functions:

  • Work at indoor and outdoor show sites building stages, scaffolding, and truss structures
  • Interpret diagrams, maps, construction drawings, stage plots, etc. and be able to modify construction based on site conditions
  • Act as crew chief for special events productions managing crews and cooperating with other vendors
  • Ability to take direction from a client, technical director, or producer and work as part of a team in a production situation
  • Must possess technical, problem solving, and communication skills necessary to succeed in a dynamic, high pressure show environment
  • Operate various production equipment such as Staging Dimensions staging, Layher/System Scaffolding, and StageLine mobile stages
  • Operate various equipment (chain hoists, material lifts, personnel lifts, forklifts, saws, drills, etc.)
  • Knowledge of industry standard rigging practices and equipment is preferred
  • Work in a warehouse environment involving prep and de-prep for shows and rentals.
  • Assist with equipment maintenance and repair
  • Vectorworks or CAD experience preferred
  • Work at elevated levels of 5 feet or higher using main lifts, ladders, or catwalks
  • Operate and troubleshoot single and three phase motor hoist systems
  • Operate personnel and equipment lifts such as Genie AWP-30, and ST-25
  • Ability to troubleshoot, repair, and fabricate XLR, DMX, multi-pin, Socapex, stage pin, NL4/NL8, Edison, Camlok and various other cable and connector types
  • Travel (including overnight stays) when required

Secondary Functions:

In addition to performance of the primary functions, this position must possess the following knowledge, skills and abilities:

  • Basic Windows computer skills including Microsoft Office; more specific skills with R2 Inventory Management Software will be necessary; training provided
  • Drug and Background tests performed
  • Operate company vehicles up to 26 foot non-CDL box trucks

  • Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) may be required when performing work duties that may have the potential of risk to your health or safety.
  • Must own and wear protective footwear that conforms to the ANSI Z41-1999 standard
