SCHOOL PSYCHOLOGIST INTERN

Special Education

Full-Time/Certificated/Non-Tenure/Countywide

Basic Function

Under the general supervision of a certificated school psychologist and the general direction of the Director of Special Education, provide psychological services to schools, including testing, counseling and consulting to assist in meeting the social, emotional and educational needs of students in regular and special education programs being serviced by the Mendocino County Office of Education; administer and interpret psychological assessments of students; prepare recommendations regarding the evaluation and placements of students; consult with teachers, administrators, specialists, agency and district personnel and parents; counsel students; coordinate behavior management programs; and perform related duties, as assigned. 

Salary
 $434.97 per day as per Range 0 – Intern of Column II on the School Psychologist Salary Schedule. 

Work Hours/Year

8 hours per day, 5 days per week, 10 months (190 days) per year beginning August 2025, pending successful fingerprint clearance, pre-employment physical, and submission of a recent tuberculosis test as required by the California Education Code.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Must be eligible to apply for an Intern School Psychology credential by meeting the requirements of a Commission on Teacher Credentialing approved program;
  • Intern eligibility letter from approved university program required;
  • A background or experience/interest working with emotionally disturbed and/or severely handicapped students;
  • Possess or obtain upon employment, a valid California Driver License;
  • Provide proof of automobile insurability;
  • Meet the physical requirements necessary to perform assigned duties safely and effectively, including lifting fifty (50) pounds on an occasional basis and in excess of fifty (50) pounds with assistance.

Benefits

Employees are provided with an insurance plan, which includes health, vision, and dental insurance for employee, spouse, and dependents, at a shared cost. Participation in this plan is mandatory for employees working 35 plus hours a week. Employee will be a member of the State Teachers’ Retirement System (STRS) and may elect to be a member of the Mendocino County Federation of School Employees Union.  MCOE does not participate in the Social Security system.
