Position Summary
The Mechanical Service Engineer is responsible for the on-site installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of gas turbines packages and aux systems. This specialized position provides expert support for turbine airfoil and combustor damage analysis, engine installation and removal, and auxiliary system issues, ensuring operational efficiency and minimizing downtime. This role will provide technical expertise in mechanical problem dispositions, collaborate with field teams and provide service engineering support across the Aero Advantage, PowerFLX, and O&M business lines.
Position Responsibilities
- Provide support for on-site installations, removals, and servicing of gas turbine packages.
- Provide real-time support for BSI (Borescope Inspection) findings analysis and disposition.
- Troubleshoot mechanical issues across auxiliary systems such as lube, starting, and fuel systems.
- Perform turbine airfoil and combustor damage assessments.
- Analyze and resolve package mechanical issues, including hoist systems, air filtration, and exhaust duct systems.
- Act as the primary contact for field execution teams requiring technical guidance.
- Escalate unresolved issues to in-house engineering teams as needed.
- Streamline the disposition process for airfoil and combustor damage.
- Optimize resource allocation by handling service engineering requests independently.
- Develop and deliver training programs for field technicians to enhance skills and expertise.
- Establish best practices for package installation, removal, and troubleshooting.
- Support operations expansion and new unit installations, particularly LM6000 units.
- Align with sustainability and customer commitment goals by improving technical support capabilities.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or related field.
- Minimum 5-7 years of experience in gas turbine maintenance, installation, and troubleshooting.
- A combination of education and experience may be considered to meet the required qualifications.
- Advanced knowledge of turbine airfoil and combustor damage analysis.
- Proficiency in engine hoist systems, exhaust duct/catalyst maintenance, and air filtration systems.
- Expertise in Borescope Inspection (BSI) results analysis
- Familiarity with auxiliary systems integration (lube, starting, and fuel systems).
- Familiarity with combustion dynamics.
- US work authorization is a precondition of employment. The company will not consider candidates who require sponsorship for a work-authorized visa.
