Job Description

Small, hi-tech firm north of Atlanta is searching for a driven, detail-orientated technician to join our growing organization. To be successful as a production/engineering technician, you should demonstrate a sound understanding of engineering terminology / ability to read and interpret schematics, and be able to work well in a team.

Outstanding technicians are self-starters with an insatiable curiosity, superb work ethic, and strong interpersonal skills. You should be able to troubleshoot equipment, communicate effectively under pressure, and provide effective suggestions for improvement.

The technician will assist with production, and production test technician responsibilities including: inspection of components, RMA hardware repair, test trial products during development, test finished goods for acceptance to requirements, record testing data and confirm results to determine compliance to quality standards, maintain testing methods and equipment, assemble and calibrate testing equipment, and use collected data to make recommendations to improve future designs and production processes.

The technician will also assist in troubleshooting/debugging electronics hardware, inspection and testing of equipment, analyzes plans for construction and design, assists in integrating prototype electronics hardware, and carries out any other necessary tasks delegated by the operations/engineering managers.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities of an Engineering Technician

  • Assists in the construction of products and equipment.
  • Runs tests on products and equipment to ensure they function properly.
  • Writes verification test procedures and reports.
  • Designs and builds prototypes of planned product or equipment.
  • Works alongside engineers to design, build, and test solutions to a variety of technical problems.
  • Conducting experiments and investigations under the guidance of Engineers.
  • Maintains records and files.
  • Inspects/trouble-shoots/debug product design for problems or errors.
  • Analyzes system or product performance.
  • Provides suggestions for ways to improve products and equipment.
  • Works with design engineers to understand and correct problems with products.
  • Orders and replaces equipment parts.
  • Ensures that all safety procedures are observed during laboratory work.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Due to Export Compliance requirements, applicant must be a US Citizen or

Green Card Holder.

  • Possesses background knowledge in engineering or computer science.
  • Is capable of conducting independent research.
  • Ability to solder test points / replace electrical components on a printed circuit board.
  • Works well on a team.
  • Pays close attention to detail.
  • Demonstrates patience when running multiple tests.
  • Exhibits strong organizational skills.
  • Possesses solid writing skills.
  • Communicates clearly and effectively.
  • Is able to understand and interpret engineering terminology and schematics.
  • Exhibits familiarity with proper lab safety procedures.

Education and Experience

  • High school diploma
  • Minimum 5 years work experience in a related field/position
  • Associate’s Degree in Engineering Technology or equivalent work experience or expertise
