Mechanical Engineer

Job Summary

The Mechanical Engineer will provide engineering services that include innovative design, physical analysis and documentation that meet customer requirements. This role is expected to generate concepts for innovative products with features based on the following: customer input, field sales team input, market research, ideation exercises, and other methodologies as needed.                            

 

Job Responsibilities

  • Plans and performs engineering research, design and development that support the manufacture of parts and components.
  • Works with engineering team to ensure successful hand-off from Engineering to Manufacturing for production.
  • Provides estimates and works with engineering management to help set schedules / priorities for the team to meet completion dates and technical specifications.
  • Works closely with Designers and Drafters assigned to projects to ensure integrity and timeliness of documentation efforts.
  • Develops complex assemblies and a variety of part types using creative manufacturing methods (i.e., castings, machined components, weldments, plastics, etc.)
  • Other duties may be assigned.

 

Job Skills and Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent Engineering experience, with 5 or more years preferred.
  • Experience creating design drawings. 
  • Capable of validating component and assembly designs through finite element analysis, peers and reviews with Engineering and other departments.
  • Proficient in complex computer skills using Access, Excel, Word, 3D CAD software - SolidWorks experience and associated analysis tools are preferred.
  • Hydraulic and Electronic system experience is a plus.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills for interfacing with internal and external organizational contacts are required.
  • Strong preference given to candidates with prior experience in engineering design standards development and ‘hands-on’ experience with manufacturing processes.
  • Proficient experience contributing towards innovative ideas as an open-minded and collaborative team player.
  • Proficient in self-motivation with a competitive drive, problem solver, service focused, and willingness to learn new things and an intrinsic desire to challenge and grow technical proficiencies.
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
