
MEP CAD Designer
Position Summary:
An MEP CAD Designer will support Flanagan’s design team by drafting mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) systems using AutoCAD. The role includes assisting with system designs, creating technical reports, and ensuring the accuracy and efficiency of MEP systems design. This position is focused on supporting senior engineers and project managers while adhering to industry standards and client specifications. An MEP CAD Designer will collaborate with senior engineers and project managers, contributing to the design and development of diverse projects while adhering to industry standards and client specifications. The position also focuses on maintaining project schedules, meeting deadlines, and ensuring high design quality across various project types.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Design Drafting: Draft MEP system designs (mechanical, electrical, and plumbing) using AutoCAD software.
System Assistance: Assist in the design process to ensure compliance with industry standards and client specifications for MEP systems.
Documentation: Prepare and organize detailed design reports and documentation for design reviews and project evaluations.
Collaboration: Work closely with senior engineers and project managers to review designs, address project-related needs, and ensure client expectations are met.
Design Accuracy & Troubleshooting: Ensure design accuracy, efficiency, and alignment with client expectations. Support the updating and troubleshooting of designs during both design and construction phases.
Project Support: Contribute to maintaining project timelines, meeting established deadlines, and ensuring a high standard of design quality.
Additional Tasks: Perform other duties as assigned, including site visits, meetings, assisting with project coordination, and managing related administrative tasks.
Required Skills:
Proficiency in AutoCAD software.
Strong understanding of MEP systems (mechanical, electrical, plumbing).
Attention to detail and adaptability to project-specific needs and challenges.
Effective communication and collaboration skills
Education and Experience:
Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Architectural Engineering, or related field preferred.
5+ years of experience required, to include experience with a variety of project types, including office, retail, restaurant, commercial, multi-family residential, healthcare (nursing/assisted living, medical/dental), educational, religious, automotive, mini storage developments, and other similar facilities preferred.
CAD Software Certification and MEP Systems Training preferred.

Office Work Environment: The majority of work is performed in an office setting. This includes extended periods of sitting, standing, and working on a computer.
Visual and Auditory Requirements: Ability to read technical documents, view data on computer screens, and communicate effectively with the team.
Travel: Occasional travel may be required for site visits, meetings, or conferences.
Manual Dexterity: Necessary for typing, filing, and managing digital and physical records.
Lifting Requirements: May occasionally be required to lift items weighing up to 20 pounds, such as office supplies or materials.
