Part-time Job Coach/Day Hab Direct Support Professional

$300 Hiring Bonus at the current time for this position!

PURPOSE OF THE POSITION: The Part-time Job Coach/Day Hab Direct Support Professional is responsible for providing quality supports to individuals with disabilities in Day Habilitation programming and/or in their place of community employment promoting skill development, growth, independence, and good employer relations.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must be of 18 years of age.
  • Associate degree, or HS Diploma/GED and 6-months’ experience.
  • One year direct service experience working with persons who have developmental disabilities preferred.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to problem solve and make decisions.
  • Valid Iowa driver’s license and insured vehicle and able to transport clients in a multi-passenger vehicle.
  • Must be able to pass background checks

Job/Day Hab Duties & Responsibilities: This part-time, non-exempt position is responsible for implementing the Individual Service Plan and for the provision of quality services through the following areas:

  • Ensure the well-being and safety of the client at all times during services by providing direct supervision and attention.
  • Support the client according to written goals of each individual’s service plan. Provide only those services authorized by the Individual Service Plan and schedule.
  • Completing documentation requirements timely along with submission of incident reports and progress notes.
  • Provide updated information regarding client needs, issues, or changes to Arc supervisor.
  • Maintain client confidentiality.
  • Respond calmly to health and emergency situations and report them to your supervisor.
  • Advocate for the rights of all clients by reporting any incident or signs of abuse and/or neglect per procedure.
  • Maximize all client independence opportunities by teaching skills in areas such as critical thinking, problem solving, communication, personal hygiene, self-advocacy and other areas defined in each client’s service plan directly pertaining to the client’s employment and group programming services.
  • The ability to work independently with accountability.
  • Promote a positive experience with clients while adhering to Arc policies, procedures, and guidelines.

WORK CONDITIONS

Movement throughout a number of different environments, both indoors and outdoors.

Ability to travel to service areas. Transportation of clientele may be required.

May involve physically assisting clientele.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Must be able to lift 20lbs

Must be able to stand, sit, walk, bend, and lift as needed.

TRAINING REQUIRED:

  • Must complete 9.5 hours of Job Coach training and 9.5 hours of Day Hab training within 6-months of appointment to the position and with 4 hours of continuing education/training annually.
