This position is responsible for supporting the revision of electric motors and gear motors and also coordinates the production process for those products. This position also supports the manufacturing plant by monitoring the creation of a product, working on design and manufacturing improvements to increase quality and reduce cost, tests finished products for quality purposes and recommends changes to product specifications as necessary.
General Responsibilities:
- Manage mechanical customer product inquiries and product changes
- Use and interpret SolidWorks for 3D models, assemblies, and 2D drawings
- Coordinate and support the product development team to finalize product ideas through implementation
- Evaluate product prototype (samples) to identify potential safety hazards and manufacturing improvements
- Oversee start of the manufacturing process (pilots) to ensure productivity and safety
- Improve, design, and specify manufacturing tooling and fixturing to improve safety, quality, and productivity
- Create outline and manufacturing drawings, conduct ECN / ECR review, develop operation sheets and develop BOMs for electric motor and gear motor projects
- Occasionally oversee transfer of product as necessary among GPTG locations (may require higher travel during project duration)
- Travel limited to suppliers, customers, or other locations (0%-15%)
- Comply with all safety policies, practices, and procedures
- Participate in team efforts to achieve departmental and company goals
- Perform other duties as assigned

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES

Education/Licensure/Credentials Required:
Bachelor’s degree in manufacturing or mechanical engineering or equivalent related education and experience
Experience Required:
5+ years’ experience with mechanical components or manufacturing support
2+ years’ CNC programming experience using Master Cam, Machine (G-codes) Equipment
Previous experience with the transfer and installation of equipment and also with the transfer and implementation of processes
Experience Preferred:
2+ years’ experience in new product development support
Special Knowledge/Skills Required:
PMDC and universal motors manufacturing and equipment
Experience with SolidWorks CAD
Proficient using Microsoft Office Suite and basic office tools and equipment
Proven initiative-taker with intuition for what needs to be done
Must have good time management skills
Strong organizational skills, interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills, customer service focus, technical capacity, as well as the ability to work well in a team environment.
Strong mechanical aptitude
Knowledge/Skills Preferred:
Knowledge of FMEA, Lean System, and project management a plus
Strong analytical capabilities, with a basic understanding of statistical analysis techniques
