Youth Mentor
Job Title: Youth Mentor (Ages 6-18)
Job Overview: We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Youth Mentor to inspire and guide young people aged 6-18. As a Youth Mentor, you will play a vital role in providing positive influence, promoting personal growth, and fostering healthy relationships with youth in your care. You will help shape the character and future of these young individuals by offering guidance, support, and mentorship, while encouraging them to build essential life skills.
Key Responsibilities:
Serve as a positive role model by demonstrating respectful, responsible, and ethical behavior at all times.
Develop and maintain meaningful, trusting relationships with youth to encourage personal growth, self-esteem, and emotional well-being.
Provide guidance in areas such as academic achievement, life skills, conflict resolution, and setting personal goals.
Promote positive character traits, including respect, responsibility, integrity, and kindness, through direct interactions and activities.
Organize and facilitate group or sessions that focus on character building, leadership development, and social skills.
Create a safe, welcoming, and supportive environment that encourages open communication and trust.
Address and resolve behavioral challenges through positive reinforcement and coaching techniques.
Support youth in navigating challenges related to school, peer relationships, family dynamics, and other life stressors.
Monitor and track the progress of youth mentees, providing regular updates to supervisors and families as needed.
Encourage participation in extracurricular activities that foster personal growth, teamwork, and community engagement.
Qualifications:
Experience working with youth, preferably in a mentorship, teaching, or counseling role.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to connect with children and adolescents.
A positive attitude and commitment to being a role model for youth.
Ability to remain calm, patient, and understanding when working with diverse individuals.
Knowledge of child development and adolescent behavior.
Ability to set and maintain clear boundaries while being supportive and empathetic.
Strong problem-solving and conflict resolution skills.
Passion for helping young people achieve their full potential and build positive futures.
Background check clearance (criminal and child abuse clearance) is required.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in youth development or related fields (e.g., psychology, social work, education).
First Aid/CPR certification.
Experience in leading group activities or facilitating workshops.
Work Schedule:
Flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, depending on availability and program needs.
