Pay: $65,000 to $70,000/year
Position Summary: The Manufacturing Engineer-Media Line establishes and maintains all media line and related processes in accordance with International Organization for Standardization (ISO), Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), and other certification requirements. Leads and coordinates strategic and tactical manufacturing engineering initiatives to enhance process efficiency, ensuring adherence to safety, quality, and cost productivity standards. The Manufacturing Engineer-Media Line develops and maintains a capital plan, ensuring expenditures remain within approved limits.
Essential Functions:
- Utilizes mechanical knowledge to design manufacturing equipment and equipment modifications to advance process quality and productivity.
- Optimizes manufacturing process using knowledge of business needs to meet ongoing productivity requirements for safety, quality, and cost.
- Initiates and manages projects focused on improving efficiency and lowering operating expenditures, ensuring adherence to established schedules and budgets.
- Implements and leads structured root-cause analysis to initiate corrective actions, reduce inefficiencies, and foster continuous improvement in paper making and related activities.
- Oversees the selection, reviews qualifications, and ensures performance of outside contractors, verifying that all work is completed efficiently, safely, and to the required quality standards.
- Creates documentation for equipment installation and maintenance, provides or assists with related training.
- Collaborates with the workforce to clarify and identify equipment and process issues, implements solutions that align with company goals and objectives.
- Determines the feasibility of designing new equipment or modifying existing machinery based on existing and future business needs, current technology, available space, time constraints, and other technical and economic factors.
- Engages with appropriate departments to identify current and future business needs.
Other Duties
- Assists in new product development by responding to R&D engineering requests to create new or improved marketable products.
- Assists sales and marketing in developing product literature by recording, interpreting, and explaining technical data and performance.
- Contributes to R&D and new product development through active team involvement.
- Provides concise written reports for project updates and final reports on completed projects.
- Performs other Manufacturing Engineer-Media Line duties as assigned.

Experience and Education Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing, Mechanical, or Engineering.
- Two years’ engineering in a manufacturing setting is preferred but not required.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSA’s) Required
- Knowledge of advanced mathematics.
- Functional knowledge of manufacturing process equipment is required.
- Knowledge of general production processes.
- Knowledge of tools, instrumentation, and test equipment.
- Working knowledge of Lean principles and applications.
- Working knowledge of industrial, mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic control systems.
- Strong mechanical knowledge of manufacturing equipment is required.
- Knowledge of how to recommend equipment or equipment modifications to improve manufacturing process.
- Knowledge of safe, efficient, and cost effective equipment installation.
- Demonstrate strong problem solving skills to effectively troubleshoot and resolve issues in manufacturing process.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, lift/carry/push/pull under 10 pounds, use hands repetitively for writing, keyboarding, and grasping/holding. The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk on normal surfaces, lift/carry up to 35 pounds, push up to 100 pounds, climb ladders twist/turn, reach outward and over shoulders, and bend and squat.
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
Acute hearing is necessary for phone and in-person communication with outside business contacts and fellow employees, and visual acuity must be sufficient to read a computer screen and paper documents.
Working Conditions
This position typically functions in a business environment with occasional trips into the warehouse, lab, and production areas. There will be exposure to moderate noise levels, fumes, dust, chemicals, heat/cold, and allergens especially in the warehouse, and production, environments.
