
Champs Program Assistant
GLAD House is a non-profit business that is a certified mental health, alcohol and drug prevention agency that works with high-risk youth who have been impacted emotionally and behaviorally by a family member with an addiction. We are a collaborative and supportive team, and our goal is to improve the lives of children by breaking the cycle of addiction.
This position is responsible for the co-leadership of Community Psychiatric Supportive Treatment (CPST) groups for ten children aged five to twelve. This position provides group and individual treatment, substance abuse prevention and social recreation. Duties require transporting clients and supporting clients individually.
Duties and Responsibilities Include:
- Oversee alcohol and drug prevention education and alternative activities groups (activities may include art, music, nutrition education and field trips)
- Utilize crisis de-escalation techniques and behavior support and management strategies to facilitate group participant behavior
- Implement prepared curriculum and assist participants with homework
- Responsible for the oversight of CPST groups for ten children aged five to twelve
- Ensure documentation describes the therapeutic interventions and their response to intervention
Qualifications Include:
- Working towards bachelor’s in social work, psychology, counseling, education, or related field
- Qualified Mental Health Specialist certified or eligible (provided training must be completed within 30 days of hire); experience with mental health preferred
- Proficient in Microsoft Outlook and able to navigate an electronic health record
- Experience with children preferred
- Valid driver's license and current automobile insurance required
- Basic swimming abilities are preferred
Hours during the school year are generally Monday - Thursday 2:00pm - 7:00pm (about 20 hours per week from middle of August to early June) and hours during the summer are generally Monday-Friday 9:30am-4:00pm (about 32.5 hours per week early June to middle of August).
