Part-Time Worship Leader

New Life Church is a growing community of believers in Pell City, AL. Located in a lake community near Logan Martin Lake, Pell City is conveniently in close proximity to Birmingham, AL and easily accessible to Atlanta, GA. We exist to Glorify God, Make Disciples, and Bless others in Jesus’ name. We desire for all people to experience New Life in Jesus Christ! We seek to be continually grounded in the God’s Word and guided by His Spirit as we follow in faith.

We are just over two years old as a church, and God has been continually providing growth at New Life! We are currently in the process of building a new church home. We are now seeking a part-time worship leader for the modern worship service.  The ideal candidate will be musically and vocally gifted, spiritually mature, a faithful follower of Jesus who has experience leading worship at a similar sized church (or larger).  This part-time position will require approximately 10-15 hours per week which will include Sunday morning services, rehearsals needed during the week, staff meetings, and other special times of worship throughout the year. 

The New Life Worship Leader will work with the Senior Pastor, staff, and volunteers to fulfill the vision and culture of modern worship at New Life Church. The Worship Leader will be expected to provide leadership and direction of the worship service and other special ministry events. Additionally, he or she will work to ensure a cohesive vision and direction for these services, and occasionally, assist in other services as needed. 

Responsibilities Include:

Works closely with Senior Pastor in planning worship services weekly

Leads the worship portion of the worship service; support other music ministries in the church

Leading worship in 1-2 modern worship services weekly

Identify and recruit musicians and any other volunteers needed for the worship team

Oversee or work alongside the church’s media/tech team

Maintain all musical instruments owned by the church

Attend church staff meetings, trainings, retreats, conferences etc. 

Required Qualifications

A strong personal faith in Jesus Christ

An understanding and full agreement with New Life Church’s Faith and Practices (beliefs)

3-4 years’ experience leading worship in a similar church setting.
Significant skills as a vocalist and instrumentalist.
Broad knowledge of modern Christian worship music
Bachelor’s degree; formal training in music (specifically Christian music) is preferred.

Excellent communication, both orally and written

Computer skills sufficient to prepare needed visuals for worship each week
