Accounting Assistant

Accounting Assistant

The Accounting Assistant will support Temple Sinai by managing accounts payable and receivable, as well as overseeing the member account section of the congregational database (CRM). This role reports directly to the Director of Human Resources & Accounting.

The ideal candidate must be highly organized, detail-oriented, and capable of multitasking in a fast-paced environment. Strong communication and interpersonal skills are essential, along with the ability to prioritize tasks and take initiative with minimal supervision.

Technology & Software Proficiency:

The Accounting Assistant must be comfortable working with financial and database management systems. Strong computer skills are required, including proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Google Suite, QuickBooks Online, and CRM management software (Salesforce experience is a plus but not required). A willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies is essential to ensure efficient financial processes and record-keeping.

Accounts Receivable:

  • Process all incoming paper and digital payments and set up payment schedules for school tuition, dues, event registrations, donations, etc., while communicating with members regarding payment inquiries or issues.
  • Respond to member inquiries regarding statements, billings, and payments. Generate and distribute monthly paper and digital statements, as well as year-end tax statements to congregants.
  • Assist with CRM management to ensure accurate financial records.

Accounts Payable:

  • Enter checks into QuickBooks Online
  • Match checks and invoices to prepare for mailing.
  • Manage A/P file folders.

Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities:

  • Experience with QuickBooks Online (required).
  • Experience with CRM systems; Salesforce experience is a plus but not required.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Google Suite.
  • Solid understanding of basic bookkeeping/accounting and transaction recording.
  • Excellent customer service skills, as well as strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Team-oriented and self-motivated work style.
  • High degree of accuracy, strong organizational skills, and attention to detail.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $45,000.00 - $50,000.00 per year

Schedule:

  • Monday to Friday
