Sales Manager, Cleveland History Center
RESPONSIBILITY: Responsible to the Director of the Cleveland History Center (CHC), headquarters of Western Reserve Historical Society (WRHS) for developing, coordinating, and supervising all CHC sales initiatives – general admission, membership, retail, parking, facility rentals and food services, and expanding them to meet gross and net income goals established in the WRHS annual budget and assuring financial control, accountability, and profitability of all CHC sales operations.
CLASSIFICATION: This position is classified as a full-time professional and is exempt from overtime compensation.
SUPERVISION: Supervises employees, volunteers, and agents engaged in sales and other designated earned income activities.
COORDINATION:
- 1. Collaborate with other vendors, retailers, and wholesalers to increase the profitability of WRHS sales efforts.
- Coordinate with CHC team regarding all guest service related operations and earned income activity.
DUTIES:
- Responsible for and driven to exceed annual earned income goals as set in the budget and annual business plan.
- Manages all CHC retail store operations including product selection, store layouts, presentation, inventory management, product development, and pricing.
- Manages and executes all activities related to CHC Facility Rentals including communication, sales, operations and administration.
- Control alcohol inventory for private parties.
- Commit to a regular schedule (Tuesday-Saturday; alternating schedule as needed to meet the needs of business)
- Support income generation initiatives by identifying and recommending programs and activities based on the strengths of the department and that will contribute to the financial success of WRHS.
- Maintain world-class level of guest services standards for all front-of-house objectives, ensuring a positive guest experience from exterior to interior appeal and staff interaction.
- Acts as Manager on Duty on days assigned, ensuring that the museum is open and ready for business and that all guests and staff have a positive experience.
- Works closely with the marketing department to develop and implement marketing strategies, targeting specific potential customer groups, in order to capitalize on identified product offerings.
- Supports institution-wide evaluation and data collection programs, including visitor experience, exhibits, public programs, and research services.
- Inventories and coordinates existing earned income initiatives, and develops and implements new earned income initiatives.
- Undertakes other duties as may be assigned by the Director of the Cleveland History Center.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- The Sales Manager is a member of the Cleveland History Center management team.
- The ideal candidate demonstrates an entrepreneurial spirit and drive, appropriate academic training, achievement in sales and revenue results, an attitude conducive to team building, and the communication and leadership skills necessary to build a successful operation.
- Professional level experience of at least five years in a sales capacity, with demonstrated job-related initiative, goal orientation, creativity, achievement, and growth; experience with other not-for-profit organizations is a plus.

Compensation: $45,000 to $50,000 annual salary
