Substation Engineer I
General Description of Position
This is an entry level engineering position. Under close supervision, performs substation design
engineering functions requiring knowledge and experience in engineering principles. The
candidate must have the technical education background to facilitate the execution of assignments
requiring engineering expertise in the desired discipline. The position responsibilities shall include
but are not limited to the preparation of drawings, specifications, and estimates for project
assignments. Additionally, provision of guidance to Designers and Technicians on assigned
projects of simple complexity.
Essential Functions of Position
1. The development of project engineering drawing packages for substations(Grounding,
Electrical Plan sections etc.)
2. Perform specific project design and development tasks including drawings, calculations,
cost estimates, and specifications
3. Ensure that the services exceeds client’s expectation of quality, budget and schedule.
4. Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and meet required completion schedule.
5. Work independently based on general instructions, directions or objectives received from
Project Manager or Supervisor.
6. Provide direct supervision to designers and technicians.
7. Demonstrate good technical design/planning, computer and financial/project
management skills.
8. May provide support to business development or pursuit activities.

Position Requirements
1. Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering (Power Systems preferred) or in related field
from an accredited university.
2. Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) preferred.
3. Entry-level experience with engineering educational background.
4. Willingness to travel for site surveys, project scope walks and meetings
5. 0 - 2 years of experience in an engineering discipline.
