Social Studies Teacher

Job Overview:

We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Social Studies Teacher to join our Teaching Faculty. This full-time, exempt position begins in August and runs through early June (190 days). Course work may include World Geography, World History, US History and American Government, and a robust mentoring program helps new teachers develop and hone their craft.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver engaging and rigorous instruction to students.
  • Utilize a 75-minute teaching period (every other day rotation) for effective lesson planning and instruction.
  • Foster student growth through interactive learning and collaboration with colleagues.
  • Utilize the Canvas learning management system to track student progress and maintain communication with parents.
  • Contribute to the school’s academic community.

Qualifications & Requirements:

  • Commitment to supporting the mission of the school.
  • Bachelor’s degree in History, Social Science, or Education required
  • Demonstrated experience teaching at the high school level during a student teaching placement, practicum, or teaching internship
  • Flexibility in assigned courses to teach within the department.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with faculty and staff.
  • Ability to instruct students in higher level social studies courses.
  • Certified or eligible for Florida teacher certification within two years.
  • Must pass a criminal background check, complete drug screening, reference checks and meet E-Verify requirements.
