Appraiser I, II or III

Appraiser I, II or III                                                 Hiring Range: $34.49 - $42.91 per hour

Full-Time, Non-Exempt                                                                      

Benefit & Pension Eligible 

 

Under the direction of the County Assessor, the Appraiser is responsible for appraising and classifying all types of real and personal property for tax purposes to determine a fair and equitable estimated market value in accordance with MN statutes and regulations. Duties include, but are not limited to: 

  • Conducts annual neighborhood review inspections in accordance with MN Department of Revenue guidelines
  • Tracks building permits to identify, review and inspect new or changing construction/ renovations to change valuations as needed
  • Verifies all aspects of property sales used by MN Department of Revenue sales study by contacting buyers and sellers to confirm sales background information
  • Provides information to taxpayers and the general public on property values, classification, tax programs, assessment and valuation procedures and standards

 

Successful candidates will have:

  • High school diploma or GED equivalence 
  • Associate or Technical degree in construction, agriculture, real estate, appraising or related area preferred
  • Real estate appraisal knowledge
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Ability to pass a standard background check
