The California Central Valley Regional Water Quality Control Board’s Rancho Cordova Office has an opening for a Water Resource Control Engineer in the Federal Cleanup Unit. The position is located at 11020 Sun Center Drive, Suite 200, Rancho Cordova, CA 95670.
Duties:
Under the close supervision of the Senior Engineering Geologist and consistent with good customer service practices and the goals of the State and Regional Board’s Strategic Plan, the incumbent is expected to be courteous and provide timely responses to internal/external customers, follow through on commitments, and to solicit and consider internal/external customer input when completing work assignments.
The incumbent will independently perform engineering hydrogeology and administrative duties at federally owned and privately owned sites related to the Water Boards’ Site Cleanup program. Specific duties include, but are not limited to: reviewing engineering work plans, reports, and cleanup proposals; evaluating hydrological data, groundwater monitoring plans, well designs, and environmental data (soil, soil gas, water, sediment, indoor air) to assure adequate definition of the nature and extent of contamination and to ascertain compliance with the Board’s cleanup goals; providing engineering design input to work plans, reports, and cleanup proposals; evaluating performance and compliance of remediation systems and wastewater treatment plants with remedial action objectives and Waste Discharge Requirements, respectively; preparing correspondence and enforcement orders directing investigations and cleanup consistent with Board policies and regulations; and prioritizing case load to support annual work plan commitments.

Salary information – CalHR salary rules allow appointment at the entrance rate (Cal. Code Regs., tit. 2, § 599.673) of a classification. For classes with alternate ranges, placement is based on education/experience.
