Social Work Contractor

Title: Social Work Contractor [LMSW]

Credential requirement: LMSW, LMHC or LPC

Status: Part-time Contractor

Hire Date: Hiring immediately - start date as soon as possible


Responsibilities:

Counseling and Support

  • Provide Individual and Group Counseling: Deliver evidence-based interventions and culturally sensitive approaches to assigned youth, focusing on their unique social, emotional, and behavioral needs.
  • Develop Treatment Plans: Collaborate with students, families, and school personnel to create and implement treatment plans that support students' goals.
  • Crisis Intervention and Mentoring: Offer immediate support during crises and mentor students to promote their social adjustment.

Assessment and Evaluation

  • Conduct Psychosocial Assessments: Evaluate students' mental, social, and functional capacities to inform treatment decisions.
  • Monitor Progress: Regularly assess students' clinical and academic outcomes, adapting interventions as necessary.

Collaboration and Communication

  • Communicate with Stakeholders: Maintain open communication with school officials, parents, and guardians to ensure a coordinated approach to student support.
  • Participate in Workshops: Assist in the planning and execution of parent and teacher workshops, including evaluations and placement of special needs students.
  • Engage with School Personnel: Build strong relationships with teachers and administrators to effectively address student needs.

Family Support and Community Engagement

  • Facilitate Family Counseling: Conduct ongoing counseling sessions with families, ensuring they are engaged in treatment planning and progress monitoring.
  • Utilize Community Resources: Maintain ongoing relationships with families, helping them access necessary community resources.
  • Conduct Home Visits: Attend agency community events and conduct home visits for high-risk clients to enhance support networks.

Supervision and Mentorship

  • Supervise MSW and BSW Interns:
    • Provide regular supervision to MSW and BSW interns, offering guidance and support in their case management practices.
    • Facilitate individual and group supervision sessions, ensuring interns have opportunities for professional development, skill enhancement, and reflective practice.
    • Evaluate intern performance through ongoing assessments and feedback, supporting their growth as emerging social workers.
  • Maintain Caseloads: Ensure a manageable caseload for individual and group counseling throughout the academic year.

Documentation and Compliance

  • Manage Case Files: Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all interactions, case notes, and reports in accordance with district, state, and federal regulations.
  • Compliance with Regulations: Complete necessary documentation and reports, ensuring adherence to organizational policies and legal requirements.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Research and Evaluation: Engage in research and evaluation efforts to track and report on clients' clinical and academic outcomes.
  • Hybrid Role in Summer: During the summer when DOE schools are closed, adapt to a hybrid role and assume other related duties as assigned.
  • Perform Other Duties: Carry out any additional tasks as assigned by the supervisor to support the organization’s mission.


Qualifications / Requirements:

  • Must hold a Master's degree in Social Work (MSW).
  • Active LMSW licensure required.
  • Minimum of 4+ years of experience in social work and case management, specifically within the Department of Education (DOE) public school system (preferred).
  • At least 4+ years of experience conducting 1:1 and group sessions, as well as facilitating professional development workshops (required).
  • 3+ years of experience working in public schools, with students from elementary to high school grade levels (preferred).
  • SIFI certification preferred (Seminar in Field Instruction).
  • Prior completion of Department of Education (DOE) background clearance (preferred).


Travel Requirement:

  • Ability to travel within New York City public schools to perform job-based duties
