Summary: 

Primary responsibility will be to provide health services to students when they are at school. Promote health –related habits and ensure compliance with health polices for schools.

  • Educating students on hygiene and safety practices
  • Ensure health protocols for students are created and in place
  • Staff the health room and perform clerical student health needs
  • Assess students health care needs
  • Perform authorized first aid care for students
  • Immunization verification and data entry to School Information System
  • Inform families when school exclusions due to illness are required.
  • Communicate necessary information to the appropriate school leadership, school personnel, and parents/guardians while maintaining confidentiality
  • Perform hearing and eye test
  • Any other duties assigned by Administration

 

Supervisory Responsibilities: Student Supervisory responsibilities

Travel: Occasionally between schools.   

Competencies: 

  • Good communication skills to work with students, parents and staff
  • Ability to demonstrate a calm, caring demeanor when working with children
  • Good presentation skills for training school staff
  • Ability to remain focused in the event of a student medical emergency

Education and/or Experience 

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations 

  • NYS Certification as a Registered Nurse
  • LPN Licensed Practical Nurse Supervised by RN
  • Computer Skills:
  • Proficient in using Google workspace applications and other educational software.

K-12 School setting
