RN Resident
THE NURSE RESIDENCY PROGRAM AT METHODIST LE BONHEUR HEALTHCARE
The Nurse Residency Program, designed for recent graduates , prepares you to be successful as a full partner on the healthcare team. The yearlong program provides a structured and progressive series of experiences to empower you to function autonomously within your nursing specialty. The program also provides a platform for continued professional development. This innovative opportunity includes individualized learning, mentorship and peer support, leadership concepts, networking, and heightened visibility within the MLH System.
When you complete the Nurse Residency Program, you will have the knowledge and skills to:
• Develop effective decision making skills related to clinical judgment and performance
• Provide clinical nursing leadership at the point of care
• Incorporate evidence-based practice into the patient care arena
• Thrive in a fast-paced clinical environment
RESIDENT EXPECTATIONS
• Participate actively in all learning experiences and share these experiences with your cohort
• Attend monthly residency sessions to support your entry into practice
• Develop and use preceptor and facilitator relationships to enhance your experience
• Complete all program and preceptor evaluations
• Complete an evidence-based practice project during your first year
PARTICIPATION REQUIREMENTS
The MLH Nurse Residency Program is open to Associates that meet the following criteria:
• Successful completion of ADN or BSN degree
(BSN preferred) in nursing
• Less than 1 year acute care nursing experience
• Must be licensed in the state of Tennessee or Mississippi as an RN (or other Compact State per Tennessee Board of Nursing guidelines) at the start of the Residency Program
