Director of Sales
Summary/Objective
The Director of Technical Sales ensures that company’s sales objectives across all territories are met.

- Promotes OGI brand and value
- Builds and maintains relationships with new and existing customers for all OGI product lines
- Develops an effective marketing strategy by working with other departments and executives
- Creates and implements effective sales strategies and leads OGI’s manufacturer’s representatives toward achievement of company sales objectives
- Provides leadership through effective communication of vision, active coaching and development of manufacturer’s representatives
- Administers all aspects of employee management to include hiring, training, planning, assigning, and directing work, performance reviews, pay increases, addressing complaints, resolving problems and disciplinary actions
- Maintains a high-performance representative organization by engaging, evaluating, and taking corrective actions of representative companies and their ability to fit into OGI’s visions and goals
- Provides sales management, budget control, compensation programs and incentive planning
- Ensures effective hiring, orientation, training, development, and retention of sales/manufacturer’s representatives
- Establishes annual sales forecasts
- Prepare monthly management meeting reports
- Manages to meet/exceed annual sales forecasts
- Negotiates purchase agreements and terms with customers
- Establishes effective relationships and collaborations with other departments (engineering, finance, operations, etc.) to address key business issues and opportunities
- Proactively identifies changes in the natural gas and industrial markets and competitive pressures to develop and modify strategies and tactics accordingly
- Maintains competitive knowledge to create and adjust sales strategies
- Attends industry tradeshows, seminars, and conferences as appropriate

This position has supervisory responsibilities.
Work Environment
This job primarily operates in a professional office environment with frequent visits to customer sites. This role uses standard office equipment. When in the manufacturing facility, all employees are required to wear personal protective equipment to include/hearing protection, and safety glasses with side shields. Protective toe boots are not required when employee is in designated walkways in the plant.
Physical Demands
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
While preforming duties of this job, the person in this position frequently communicates with employees and customers and must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations. The employee constantly must remain stationary for long periods of time, while operating a computer and other office machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine, and computer printer. This position needs to occasionally move about inside the office to access filing cabinets and operate office productivity machinery, such as a copy machine and laminator.
The employee might occasionally lift or move objects up to 25 pounds.
On occasion, may be required to visit the shop that is a non-temperature-controlled environment with loud noises, dust, dirt, and metal particles that are usually associated with metal fabrication shops.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to
5 p.m. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.
Travel
This position requires up to 50% travel both domestically and internationally.
Required Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in business or engineering
- Minimum 5 years of industrial sales experience with at least 3 years of experience managing a sales force
- Strong mathematical and analytical skills and understanding of engineering and financial principles
- Experience and success in recruiting and retaining a high-performance sales team and a demonstrated ability to lead and manage a diverse sales team
- Demonstrated ability to achieve sales plans
- Proven business analysis and judgment with the ability to proactively manage business and P&L to meet objectives
- Demonstrated ability to professionally develop and coach team members
- Strategy development, project management, problem solving, and change management skills
- Solid understanding of natural gas, food and beverage, and industrial markets and their respective regulatory requirements and issues
- Exceptional negotiation skills
- Ability to build positive working relationships, both internally and externally
- Ability to effectively present information and negotiate with all levels of management including executive level
- Demonstrated strong oral and written communication skills
- Business related computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite and Customer Relationship Management software
- Possess good knowledge of economics and how current market trends influence sales
Preferred Education and Experience
- Master’s degree in business or engineering with 8 years of industrial equipment sales experience to include at least 5 years of experience managing a sales force
- Strong understanding of the natural gas markets; including trends, technologies, products, and players
- Technical/mechanical aptitude in oil and gas industry including upstream, midstream, and downstream energy sectors and its supporting process equipment
- Experience with Epicor ERP
- Established relationships with top customers and manufacturer’s reps in the natural gas industry both domestically and internationally
