ABOUT US: Founded in 2020 by Mayra Martinez and Anthony Perez, Legacy Empowerment Services’ (LES) mission is to empower adults with disabilities to fulfill their potential & reach their goals by providing a wide array of services including skills training for daily living, appropriate social behavior, planning and coordinating recreational and leisure activities, employment supports and promotion of community awareness and involvement. Every member of our team is passionate about eliminating barriers to critical services and supporting our participants in reaching their goals. Our team is diverse with invaluable experience as teachers, social workers, behaviorists, group home managers, support coordinators, job coaches, and parents of individuals with disabilities. 

 

JOB TITLE:  Part-Time Life Skills Instructor

 

REPORTS TO: Region Supervisor 

 

JOB OVERVIEW: We are seeking a compassionate, patient, and skilled Part-Time Life Skills Instructor to work with adults with disabilities. The instructor will be responsible for teaching essential life skills that will empower adults with disabilities to live more independent, fulfilling lives. This role offers a rewarding opportunity to make a significant impact by helping individuals develop the skills necessary for personal growth, self-sufficiency, and an improved quality of life.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES:  

  • Responsible for providing direct support to assist participants in daily routine, life skills and activities
  • Assist participant in skill development to achieve stated goals and build independence 
  • Assist with gross and/or any fine motor skills including mobility as needed
  • Document and submit activity reports within 24 hours of service being provided 
  • Punctuality and professionalism is required 

 

 

QUALIFICATIONS:  

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in fields such as special education, social work, psychology, or related disciplines.
  • Previous experience working with adults with disabilities is a bonus
  • Knowledge of life skills, including personal development, independence training, and job readiness.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with students, families, and other professionals.
  • Ability to adapt teaching methods to suit the needs of individuals with varying cognitive, emotional, and physical abilities.
  • Patience, empathy, and a positive attitude toward working with individuals with disabilities.
  • Reliable, punctual, and professional.

 

Salary & Compensation: starting hourly rate is $23/hour 

 

Additional Information: 

  • This is a 1099 contract role 
  • Contractors are not eligible for benefits 
  • All contractors are subject to background checks
