Quality Engineer

JOB SUMMARY: 

The Quality Engineer position is an experienced role at Thaler Defense Systems. Contributing to driving continuous improvement initiatives that enhance productivity, efficiency, and product quality across our operations. The ideal candidate will possess a robust engineering background with expertise in manufacturing processes and continuous improvement initiatives. This role is critical to the design, implementation, and optimization of manufacturing systems that meet the stringent quality and compliance standards required in the Aerospace and Defense sectors. 

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

➢ Develop, implement, and optimize manufacturing processes and systems to improve production efficiency, reduce waste, and ensure high-quality outputs in compliance with Aerospace and Defense quality standards in a precision machining environment. 

➢ Ensure adherence to industry standards, regulations, and safety guidelines. 

➢ Determining quality improvement factors, Identify and resolve production issues, including mechanical failures, process inefficiencies, and quality concerns. 

➢ Preparing reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing data, conduct thorough root cause analysis and implement corrective actions. 

➢ Lead and manage manufacturing projects, including the integration of new products, installation of new equipment, process upgrades, and upgrades to existing systems. 

➢ Ensure projects are completed on time, within budget, and in compliance with industry specifications. 

➢ Prepare and maintain comprehensive documentation, including process workflows, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and technical reports. 

➢ Analyze production data and generate regular performance reports for management. 

➢ Implementing methods to inspect, test and evaluate the reliability of manufacturing processes, products, and production equipment. 

➢ Strong knowledge of relevant software, quality assurance methods, tools, and quality manufacturing processes. 

➢ Promote a culture of safety and continuous improvement within the manufacturing team. 

➢ Other duties as assigned. 

 

QUALIFICATIONS: 

➢ 8 years' experience in Manufacturing Quality Engineering 

▪ Having a bachelor’s or master’s degree in manufacturing engineering, Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field, can substitute for some experience. 

▪ A bachelor’s degree can act as a substitute for 4 years or experience, and a master’s degree can act as a substitute for 5 years of experience. 

➢ 3 years machine shop experience. 

➢ Training in quality management systems, leadership and management, customer relations, communication skills and supplier management. 

➢ Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes, techniques, and equipment with an emphasis on machining and assembly in the Aerospace & Defense industry. 

➢ Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment. 

➢ Excellent problem-solving abilities and analytical skills. 

➢ Able to execute multiple tasks, deadlines and priorities. 

➢ Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite. 

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: 

➢ Primary work activities are evenly split between an office environment and production floor. 

➢ Ability to stand and walk for extended periods supporting frequent visits to the production floor or overseeing manufacturing processes. 

➢ Ability to lift and carry objects, which might range from light tools and materials to heavier equipment, typically up to 25-50 pounds as required.
