Fine Jewelry Sales Associate

Company Overview

Renowned New York jeweler Doyle & Doyle seeks a part-time sales and customer service professional. This position is located at our showroom in Manhattan.

Doyle & Doyle is a small, family-owned business that specializes in vintage and antique jewelry. We are inclusive and welcoming to all clients. You'll work closely with a passionate team of jewelry lovers, including the business owners. This is not an old fashioned, corporate jewelry store.

Summary

The Sales Associate is the first point of contact for our customers. You'll be the voice of Doyle & Doyle: friendly, professional, and knowledgeable. This position is vital to fostering relationships with clients and contributing to the business's success.

You'll listen and get to know your clients so you can provide the best possible service. You believe that a happy and loyal repeat client, rather than a one-time sale, is always the goal. You're passionate about customer service, adaptable, and take initiative.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Answer client inquiries, over email and on the phone.
  • Consistently close sales.
  • Create and maintain your personal client list, build lasting relationships with them.
  • Proactive clienteling for holidays and events.
  • Assist as needed during showroom appointments.

As you gain experience and build a track record of success, you'll have opportunities to grow and take on new projects according to your interests. This position could grow into full-time for the right person.

Luxury sales experience is strongly preferred. Prior experience in jewelry is a plus, but not required. We will train the right candidate in jewelry history and product knowledge.

Responsibilities

  • Respond to client email and phone inquiries promptly and accurately.
  • Close sales with new customers and repeat clients.
  • Create and maintain a client spreadsheet.
  • Proactive clienteling for birthdays, anniversaries, Christmas, etc.
  • Organize and schedule virtual appointments over Zoom.
  • Organize and schedule in-person appointments using Google calendar.
  • Facilitate customer repairs.
  • Track website order fulfillment and shipping.
  • Post-purchase follow up.
  • Help to generate online reviews.

Requirements

  • 1-3 years of sales experience with a proven track record of closing sales, preferably in jewelry or luxury retail.
  • Excellent communication skills: written, phone, and in person.
  • Proficient in Google Workspace, including Gmail, Calendar, Drive, Sheets, etc.
  • Provides excellent customer service.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
  • Ability to multitask.
  • Effective time management.
  • Highly motivated and takes initiative.
  • Organized and detail oriented.
  • Flexible, deals well with unexpected interruptions or changes to the daily schedule.
  • Receptive to constructive feedback.

Preferred Skills

  • Knowledge of jewelry, specifically vintage and antique.
  • Graduate Gemologist degree.
  • Experience in Shopify ecommerce software.
  • Creating iPhone/digital photos and videos
