At CleanSpace, the Architectural Designer position focuses on the development of the clean environment’s layout and details; including not only the architectural enclosure but any additional systems that interact with the enclosure. This position will use a variety of inputs to produce construction documents that are aligned with the project scope, budget, and schedule. The Architectural Designer supports the Architectural, MEP, and Structural engineering teams to finalize design of the cleanroom envelope providing input and direction on construction and installation best practices of our products. In parallel the Architectural Designer serves as our internal liaison between sales, construction, and manufacturing to review constructability, manufacturability, and logistics. This position supports client relationships and works to provide our clients with projects that are completed within budget, on schedule, and in accordance with our safety and quality standards.
Experience Level and Background
- 2 to 5 years minimum experience in architectural design preferred. Engineering or architectural degree or formal training with equivalent experience.
- 2 to 5 years’ experience in the following applications: Revit Architecture, AutoCAD Architecture
- Navisworks Manage experience preferred
- Working knowledge of commercial construction methods, standards, specifications, and building codes
Department Roles and Responsibilities
Our department collaborates with the Architectural, MEP, and Structural teams from early conceptual design through the manufacturing and installation phases of a project. The department is responsible for the accuracy of details, material dimensions, and scheduled quantities for successful manufacturing and install of our system. The department conducts reviews at 30%/60%/90% milestones to ensure shop drawings align with customer’s design intent and specifications, as well as CleanSpace’s design standards. The department ensures a sound transition of a project’s scope, execution strategy, and budget from sales to operations.
General Roles Responsibilities
- Collaboration between Architectural, MEP, and Structural engineers to produce 3D models of modular components for BIM coordination
- Shop drawing creation of all components within CleanSpace’s scope. Drawing sets include plans (floor & ceiling), section details, elevations, and material schedules
- Door and hardware coordination based on architectural specifications
- Renderings of cleanroom envelope for sales and marketing literature (upon request)
- Factory support in the creation of fabrication details for manufacturing (as required)
- Site surveys to evaluate existing building conditions (as required)
- Participation in team meetings (client design reviews, page-turners, BIM coordination, etc.)
Typical Day-to-Day Activities
- Responding to email correspondence
- Generating request for information (RFI’s)
- Following up and resolving assigned RFI action items
- Documenting meeting minutes, design changes, design time, and other project related correspondence
- Collaborating with A&E teams during design phase
- Communicate with factory team regarding project scope and material phasing
- Identify, document, and communicate design changes that impact scope, cost, or schedule with estimating, construction, and manufacturing teams
- CAD/Revit model work (model building, clash resolution, shop drawing creation)
- Model exports & uploads to project server (project specific)
- Staff meetings with Design Director
